OPL Music Experiments

I was on a roll making old school tunes reminiscent of 90’s DOS Games for a while.

In these compositions, I used the ADLPlug VST and tried to express various ideas with only a few instruments.

“Alley”

“Blotch”

“Carrying On”

“Rushed”

“Mystery”

By the way, OPL is a sound chip from Yamaha used most famously in 1990s PC games. The term “OPL” stands for “FM Operator Type-L” and the chips were part of early PC sound cards like the AdLib and Sound Blaster.

Luckily, there are a couple of VST’s such as ADLPlug that can be used with FL Studio to achieve the same kinds of tunes of the good ‘ol days!
