Castle Evalon is a Quake map for the Copper mod.
I’d mapped for Quake and Source based Engines before but there’s something about Quake’s simplicity that makes it the ideal game to learn the in’s and out’s of 3D level and gameplay design.
Some facts about the map:
- It took two weeks to build in Trenchbroom (a fantastic editor!)
- The map was designed to have distinct areas; the hall, dungeon, courtyard, caves, library and underground
- It deliberately avoids using ogres as a creative restriction
- It’s not too easy nor difficult, so that it can be enjoyed by the greatest amount of people
